It takes a lot of courage to step onto the America’s Got Talent stage. It takes even more courage to fly 15 hours from Australia to do it when you are only 12 years old.
Meet Annie Jones, the “beautiful little dance monkey” who stole the judges’ hearts.
Dressed in a bright yellow jumpsuit with an infectious smile, Annie admitted she was a “little bit” nervous. But the moment the music started, the nerves vanished.
She chose to sing “Dance Monkey” by Tones and I, a massive global hit that is notoriously difficult to sing due to its unique vocal style.
Annie didn’t just sing it; she performed it. She danced, she worked the crowd, and she displayed a level of stage presence that usually takes years to master.
The energy in the room was electric. Sofia Vergara was dancing in her seat, and even Simon Cowell was clapping along with a huge grin on his face.
By the time she hit the final note, the audience was roaring.
Simon, who can be the toughest critic, was fully won over. “You are a beautiful little dance monkey,” he told her. “You are a star, and the world now knows you.”
With four enthusiastic “Yes” votes, Annie proved that talent has no age limit—and that the long flight from Australia was definitely worth it.
